The government has taken a decision to hand over a number of government-owned valuable ancient buildings to the newly formed company called “Selendiva” and sell those properties via stock market. Giant old building owned by the Bank of Ceylon situated at York Street is one of those buildings. The Ceylon Bank Employees’ Union has decided to engage in a trade union action to protest against the government’s move and today (25) members of the union launched an island wide poster campaign as a first step. Comrade Channa Dissanayake, the president of the union, says that the bank employees are ready to take to the streets and fight to save state property.
